Removal of the existing Beaver Row Footbridge and central support column, restoration off site, followed by refitting on a new central foundation and repaired abutments.

Key Elements

  • Design and implementation of traffic management to facilitate cranage on a restricted site, and to reconstruct the footpaths, bridge abutments and service installation works
  • Procurement and management of specialist subcontractors to carry out the restoration works of this protected historic structure which was over 130 years old
  • Replacement of the concrete bridge deck and application of combined waterproofing and high friction surfacing on the new deck
  • Working within the River Dodder including liaison with the Inland Fisheries to carry out in-stream works and temporary diversion of the River
  • Repair works to the stone masonry abutments and wingwalls
  • Noise and vibration monitoring during construction due to the residential nature of the site
  • Installation of elastomeric bridge bearings, expansion joints and stainless steel anchors
  • Demolition of in-stream central column and base and reconstruction of new reinforced concrete foundation and cut water
